There are so many Gods, religions, books and different versions of bibles(and different texts) that I don't know what to believe in anymore than just the words of King Salomon, make the most of every day and enjoy life.

Trying to Know God and/or Christ...
by AGuest insolely by means of the pages of the bible... is like trying to know someone based on what's written about them in their high school year book.
while what others write there may say a lot... oh so much is left out.
best way to get to know that person?

My Ouija board Experience, Beware DO NOT ENTER if you believe in demons
by cyberjesus inok last night we played with the ouija board, i am posting a link to a video of what happened so you dont get offended.
only open if you are willing to accept the consequences.. when my gf went to buy the board many people warned her about it, even the cashier shake the head and told her that she would never bring that game into her house.. so we played, we invoked the spirits, we even called god.

Children - Your experiences of being raised a JW
by jambon1 inyes, it's my favourite subject.
in fact, it fascinates me.
i am also confident that we can learn a lot from peoples experiences & that perhaps even a few families may avoid repeating the same tragic mistakes made by the ill-advised parents of children raised in the jehovah's witness religion.. as some of you will be aware i have had a struggle in the past to free my children of the criminal effects of wts doctrine on the minds of my infant children.

Born and raised as a jw but my parents never forced me or gave me encouragement to enroll, I still went to meetings and witnessing so I can't say I had the worst upbringing but due to the indoctrination and JW mentality I didn't get along in high school, I was too quiet too introverted and did not respect other people's view. My mum tells me that in my first 3 years I was very extroverted and never expected me to change, could have something to do with mind control, I still have not changed completely but I'm not so judgmental(strong sense of justice) and not as concerned on what other people think of me.
My parents were not opposed on education, never fanatic like some but they didn't allow me to associate with "worldly" people or hang out at night. Even if I was not considered spiritual strong, double talk and hypocrisy was consistent with brothers like its normal because sinning is part of being human (that was an excuse a brother gave me), but they never amended their small sins like its "ok to tell a white lie", some brothers and sisters were disfellowshipped and others left, majority of them cheat on their tax return, at the meeting they had their on little friend clubs instead of being united and some brothers/sisters hated others, gossip was normal...so much for love.. but when it came to preaching or teaching to other people they had good intentions. Thinking that God wants them to preach the word (not the word) and thinking that the end will come soon and thinking that they will have internal life on earth, eventually for some illusion meets with reality, others are still blinded by the illusion.
Being free from it all gives me such a greater knowledge about the bible, religion and agnostic views, things that JW's don't know.

Please help me on my JW father who WILL NOT leave me ALONE
by skeeter1 inmy father will not leave me alone.
i need your suggestions on what to do.. my father is elderly and his health isn't good.
still, he pioneers.

Tell him that Jehovah wants only genuine interested people and that you would only do it for him if it will make him happy but not for Jehovah.
In your dad's way of thinking his intentions are good and he would like to see you turn back to JW happy land, I have the same problem with my old folks.

Apocryphal Jewish Tradition in the New Testament
by Leolaia inthe nt frequently refers to people and events of the ot, but time and again these references include details and assumptions that do not occur in the original ot narratives.
but these same elements are found, time and again, in extrabiblical jewish tradition.
taken together, we see that the nt writers drew on popular tradition and haggadah on the ot texts and thus preserved traces of these ancient expansions of biblical stories in their own writings.

Gods Problem - Bart''s understanding of 666
by Joey Jo-Jo inregarding his book, what bart is trying to explain about the apocalypse views of prophets (book of daniel's visions and other books that didnt make it into the bible) that john''s account of revelations is something that was written to occur in his time during neo ceasars reign, he''s understanding of the number of the beast, that 666 in hebrew numbering (which was used in that time) adds to ceasar nero, but not according to this web site, its 616 or 700. http://www.hol.com/~mikesch/666.htm.
i can't find anything in google..

What made you start questioning: people or doctrine?
by In inlet us know what got you questioning wbts in the first place.
i've got a theory that it starts with people hurting us and only then does the "apostate" turn to looking at the beliefs.. anybody who started questioning beliefs first?.

At a weekday meeting the person doing the talk said something that didn''t sound right to me so God turned me to Google, came to this site and others, read anti jw books, and here I am, and I have recently been shunned by hypocrites who hang around ""worldly"" people.
